Speaking God's Language Prt 1
’Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31The second is this: ’Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these." Mark 12:29
Last week we touched on the 5 Love languages but over the next three days I'd like to go a little deeper. Dr. Gary Chapman wrote a book called the five love languages. After 30 years of counseling married couples, he came to the conclusion that each person has their own love language.
These five love languages are * Acts of Kindness, * Giving Gifts, * Words of Affirmation, * Physical Touch & Quality Time
I believe that God’s love language embodies all of these qualities and can be summed up into one word; AGAPE , which means a selfless love. It is a love that is given, expecting nothing in return. AGAPE love is a love that is both free & full, it’s a love that is given to a person no matter what they have done. We don’t often see this kind of love in the world because AGAPE love is a God kind of love.
Friends, do we have AGAPE love for God? Do we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? Or do you attempt to AGAPE God with some of your heart, maybe all of your soul, but none of your mind, and very little strength?
To Love somebody effectively we need to speak their language, and I believe even to love God properly we need to understand and speak His language.
So the question today is how do we speak God’s Love Language?
#1 Commit to it!
Commit your whole being to Him!
If you're going to learn any language you have to commit to it whole-heartedly well it’s the same with God Love Language.
The act of loving God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength are combined together to fulfill the Greatest Commandment in life. If you think of anything in the world and you filter it through this commandment, you will know if, you're Loving God properly. You will know if you are truly committing yourself to learning His love language. For instance, let’s look at Fowl Language: Some people think you can use fowl language and be loving God rightly at the same time. Let’s put it through the filter. When you use fowl language it’s usually to express anger, bitterness, or to degrade someone.
How can you love God with all your mind and heart when you’re harboring bitterness, when you're belittling people and you're thinking wrong thoughts?
We live and function, through our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Everything that we do impacts our heart, soul, mind, and strength, so in turn everything affects your worship and Love to God. I mean everything.
Today let's make it a point to "Commit our ways unto the Lord ; trust also in him; and He shall bring it to pass."
