Speaking God's Language Prt2
Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength,’ 31The second is this: ’Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:29
Yesterday we touched on The 5 Love Languages, what they are and how to begin to speak God's Love Language. Let's continue today with Part 2.
The Five Love Languages: * Acts of Kindness, * Giving Gifts, * Words of Affirmation, * Physical Touch & Quality Time
I believe that God’s love language embodies all of these qualities and can be summed up into one word; AGAPE , which means a selfless love. It is a love that is given, expecting nothing in return. AGAPE love is a love that is both free & full, it’s a love that is given to a person no matter what they have done. We don’t often see this kind of love in the world because AGAPE love is a God kind of love.
Friends, do we have AGAPE love for God? Do we love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? Or do you attempt to AGAPE God with some of your heart, maybe all of your soul, but none of your mind, and very little strength?
To Love somebody effectively we need to speak their language, and I believe even to love God properly we need to understand and speak His language.
So the question today is how do we speak God’s Love Language?
#1 Commit to it!
Commit your whole being to Him! (Read more on this in yesterdays post 3/11/15)
#2 Think on it!
You cannot speak a language without your mind thinking about it first. Your mouth cannot process words unless they are thought of first. Your Bible is the mind of God. You get to know God and His plan for your life by reading his word. It is his word that has power, not man’s word. It is God’s word that we are to live by. In order to think like Him, you must begin to study God’s word. God’s word will clean you and purify your mind.
Romans 12: 1-2: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
When this passage was translated from Greek to English, the meaning changed pretty significantly. It looks like it says that we are transformed by the renewing of our minds, but the word to "renew," is not a present tense verb, but a passive verb. A passive verb is where you received the action. We have all received renewed minds at the time of salvation; it is up to us to stay transformed. It is up to us to keep our minds focused on the things of God.
