    What Great Love

1 John 3:1-3 See what great love the Father has for us that He would call us His children. And that is what we are. For this reason the people of the world do not know who we are because they did not know Him. 2 Dear friends, we are God’s children now. But it has not yet been shown to us what we are going to be. We know that when He comes again, we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is. 3 The person who is looking for this to happen will keep himself pure because Christ is pure.

Look at how great a love the Father has given us, that we should be called God's children. And we are! The reason the world does not know us is that they didn't know Him (our Father).

One of our greatest needs as we try to live sanely in this crazy culture is simply surrendering ourselves to the "one thing" that ensures everything else of great value. We see a perfect example of this again in the apostle John. As the "disciple Jesus loved" John chose to believe and fully receive the love of Christ above all other things. What was the results? Just as Solomon asked for wisdom and became the wisest man in history, John prioritized love and became a flooding wellspring of affection When God esteems our prayers, we get what we asked for and far more.

In the KJV 1John 3:1 reads like this, "Behold, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us" By using the word "behold" in the original Greek, it's almost like John was saying, "Can't you see it? Don't you perceive it? The love of God surrounds us with evidence! Just look!"

Beloved, God's love for you exceeds all reason- yes, His love for you! 1John 4:16 says, "We know and rely on the love God has for us." His love for you and me is an absolute reality. Let's step into the reality of the love of God today.
